Science is not a taught subject at P1/P2 under MOE's own syllabus — our P1/P2 Science content is offered as enrichment beyond the official syllabus, not as a claim of syllabus coverage at those grades.
Olibits is an independent learning platform and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Ministry of Education. See our FAQ for the full breakdown.
Enrichment topic. This goes beyond what the MOE syllabus asks at this level. It is offered as extra practice, not as syllabus coverage.
Real Matter & Energy Enrichment practice questions
A wooden chair and a metal chair are both left outside in the rain overnight. The next day, the metal chair has some rust spots, but the wooden chair does not rust, though it feels damp. Why does only the metal chair rust?
Rusting happens when iron reacts with water and air, and wood has no iron ✓
Wood is stronger than metal, so rain cannot damage it
Rain sinks into the metal but only stays on top of wood, so only the metal changes
Metal is heavier than wood, and heavy materials always turn brown in the rain
Rusting happens when iron or materials containing iron react with water and air over time; wood does not contain iron, so it cannot rust in the same way, even though it may still get wet.
